The Men-only Wrestling in Commonwealth Games is to be held at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi. Competitors are to compete in different weight categories.

Wrestling

Wrestling is the act of physical engagement between two people in which each wrestler strives to get an advantage over, or control of, the opponent. Many styles of wrestling are known all over the world. Among these Greco-Roman and Free-Style are two important variant. In Greco-Roman style, competitors are not to hold below waist. But in Freestyle wrestling the competitors can use not only their arms and bodies, but also their legs and can take a hold of their opponent anywhere that allows them to overpower and gain total control of them.

Greco-Roman wrestling was introduced for the first time in Athens Olympic, 1896. Freestyle competition was introduced in 1904, St. Louis Olympic. However women's freestyle added in the Summer Olympics of 2004.

Wrestling is included in the Delhi Commonwealth Games. It is an Optional Sports in Commonwealth Games. India will look foreward to gather some medals into its kitty in wrestling considering the brilliant performance by our wrestlers in Beijing Olympic.

The men-only wrestling competition will be held for 7 gold medals on offer. Wrestlers throughout the world will fight in their respective weight categories. These are weight categories of 55 kg, 60 kg, 66 kg, 74 kg, 84 kg, 96 kg, and 120 kg.

The Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium will host the wrestling competition in the next Commonwealth Games.
